About the Project
JIAK KOPI CHALLENGE is an interactive multiplayer game designed to engage visitors in a timed coffee-brewing competition. Participants complete a set list of brews as quickly as possible, with top performers earning their place on the leaderboard.
The gamplay is powered by RFID technology, where players place the correct ingredients to create the right coffee concoction. The multiplayer system must detect these pieces simultaneously and relay accurate data to the game engine in real time. A great deal of effort went into fine-tuning the gameplay, ensuring that both sensitivity and refresh rates were optimized for a smooth, responsive experience.
Challenge & Solution
While we had experience working with RFID-based solutions, developing a multiplayer system was an entirely new challenge. We had to carefully source the right RFID readers and compatible labels that doesn’t conflict, and ensure that all components were discreetly integrated into the setup for a clean, polished appearance. Multiplayer programming introduced more room for potential errors and miscalculations, but through rigorous testing and problem-solving, we engineered a system that was smooth, consistent, and highly reliable.
